Annapolis couple shares love, prizes at county fair
Young. And people did say their love wouldn't last. Boy, were they wrong. The Powells celebrated their 50th anniversary this fall with a cruise.
They were married on Oct. 18, 1961. Bud was 20 and Bonnie was 16.
They met on a sleigh ride in Baltimore a couple years earlier and were instantly attracted to each other.
"She was very pretty," said Bud, 71, who is a retired insurance claims representative. "She was energetic."
He'd had his front teeth knocked out a couple weeks before, but it didn't matter. "I still thought he was handsome," said Bonnie, 66, who works as an addictions counselor at the J. Albert Adams Academy in Annapolis.
